Takeshi Odagi


Takeshi Odagi is a partner of the firm. Mr. Odagi’s practice focuses on general corporate, corporate crisis management, litigation and arbitration, and family and domestic matters.

He has advised and represented a major Japanese food company in the client’s crisis management arising from poisoning accidents, and assisted another food company in responding to a widely covered corporate scandal. As counsel in litigation cases, Mr. Odagi has represented: a leading medical college in Japan in medical malpractice suits; a bank in damages suits arising from the sale of financial instruments to its customers; and academic and educational institutions in labor cases. He also practices in family and domestic matters.

He regularly advises clients in such areas as food manufacturing, machinery, metal products, medical colleges, and public interest associations. Mr. Odagi serves as a member of the audit and supervisory board of several Japanese companies and as a board member of several industry associations. Mr. Odagi has published articles in civil law and management of law firms.

Mr. Odagi was admitted to the Bar of Japan in 1970. He joined Ishii Law Office in 1970 and became a partner in 1980. He received an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School in 1974 and an LL.B. degree from Tokyo University in 1967. Mr. Odagi is a member of the Daini Tokyo Bar Association and the Japan Federation of Bar Associations. He speaks Japanese and English.
